The public is invited to a special day honoring acclaimed Florida author Patrick D. Smith, voted “Greatest Living Floridian” by the Florida Historical Society.

Nominated for Pulitzer Prize three times and for Nobel Prize for Literature six times, Patrick Smith's lifetime work as a writer has also earned him top prizes from other organizations, among them the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Smith’s best known novel, A Land Remembered, was voted Best Florida Book for the eighth year by readers of Florida Monthly Magazine. Much of A Land Remembered is set in the 1800s in Florida’s prairies and scrub, which are preserved in their natural state at Forever Florida.
Patrick Smith plans to be in the Visitor Center to greet readers and sign books as usual.
The keynote address will be by Rick Smith (Patrick Jr.), spilling the beans on his dad’s literary career and achievements.
Additional entertainment includes an interactive Kid Zone, games, activities, a Cracker oxen demonstration and a Cracker horse training demonstration.
Local artisans will display their wares.
Following the entertainment, a special 2-hour Eco-Safari tour of Forever Florida and the Crescent J Ranch will be offered for $20.00.
Admission is $5.00 per person or $10.00 per car. Barbeque Lunch is $10.00.
